Big steps

Eight years ago I started out, fresh out of uni with a newly rented studio but with nothing to put in it.

As many of you would know I've put my heart and soul into my work and my brand. I've had some great opportunities and had some great wins and along the way. But I've got to be honest, I've also had my fair share of downs to go with the ups, as any business does.

To be frank, it is really really hard running your own business.

Now don't get me wrong, I've been full time in this little Alison Jackson business for over three years now and I LOVE it. The ups, the downs, the long weeks, non-existent weekends, the late nights - I wouldn't have it any other way.

As things have gained momentum along the way, I've very slowly learned I can't do it all on my own.

And so I'd like to introduce my little team...

Meet Suni

Suni is my first studio assistant. She is a recent graduate from the ANU Gold & Silversmithing workshop at ANU.

Suni is a talented maker herself and is a real asset to have in the workshop. She has also stopped me going crazy working by myself all week, so it's wins all round!

Meet Dan

Sculptor, creative problem-solver, designer, maker and all round clever guy. I'm also very lucky, he's my partner too.

Dan and I work together to produce my tableware range. Dan has a huge range of skills, his own established workshop and a love for all things metal.

Most of the tableware range has needed customised tooling, which Dan has designed and made (with some help from my Dad) and he continues to hand make much of the tableware range.

Check out Dan's range of work here.
