Alison Jackson • Silversmith
Alison Jackson is a Canberra based Silversmith. Graduating in 2008 from the ANU School of Art, Gold & Silversmithing Workshop she immediately established her own workshop space, Pocket Studio. The workshop has now developed into a fully equipped Silversmithing studio where Alison runs her own full time practice as well as sharing her knowledge through a program of short courses.
Alison combines experience with strong technical skills, creative vision and a passion for making. Her practice spans across jewellery, tableware and large scale creative installations.
She has a love of the traditional craft of Silversmithing and explores this through her limited edition and exhibition work.
Alison has exhibited nationally and internationally and has won a number of awards. Most recently she was the recipient of a 2016 Australia Council Grant and in 2015, Alison had a significant body of work acquired by Canberra Museum and Gallery for their permanent collection.
Alison has developed a highly successful production range of jewellery and tableware to compliment her one off work.
Pairing fine hand-making skills with industrial processes and highly customised tooling, each product is crafted by hand, in Alison's workshop.
Driven by her love of traditional metalworking processes, Alison works in a range of metals including sterling silver, stainless steel and copper to handcraft elegant, distinct and timeless jewellery and tableware.
Alison works alongside her small creative team, based on the outskirts of Canberra, Australia
